| This is a corner of the lobby, and the antiques are typical for the hotel. They're everywhere that you look - in the hallways, lobby and rooms. The atmosphere genuinely takes you back a hundred years or so. |

We stayed in the Jay Gould room, which was number 215. The room is named after the famous railroad baron, who visited town to try to persuade the city fathers to allow his railroad into town. When they weren't interested, Gould left town, leaving a famous curse on the town. |
| The hotel is built around a peaceful courtyard, complete with a slow-flowing fountain that creates the most relaxing aire. We started each morning with breakfast on the sun porch looking out onto it, and sat there in the moonlight one of the evenings. |
